NRF is one of the largest retail shows of the year, featuring attendees from over 3,000 retail companies.  If you have been in this space for a while, you know it is a hectic three days and a bit of a reunion for old friends and colleagues.

Why We Founded Cimulate

 

Cimulate CTO Vivek Farias and I have spent the last two decades developing a deep understanding of retail supply chaing and digital commerce, learning to apply the latest technology to improve results for online retailers.

 

I ran Product at Endeca over a decade ago, and thought search was a solved problem at this point.  It is not.  When I was VP Product Management, Demand, and Supply Management at Nike, I got an inside look at how large retailers think about solving their most critical problems. Digital commerce platforms are nowhere near as intelligent as they need to be in order to truly understand  customer intent.  

 

Customers also want to interact using natural language, but online retailers couldn’t quite meet them on conversational terms. In-store shoppers love having access to product experts who can guide them quickly to their desired products. Why should online shopping be any different?

 

We’ve spent the last two years building CustomerGPT to solve these problems, raising over $30M from the world’s leading venture capital companies to achieve our mission.


As we kick off 2025, CustomerGPT is live and already powering digital commerce search and discovery for industry-leading retailers like Tillys,, as one example. These early adopters were able to quickly implement the Cimulate platform and view the power of CustomerGPT for themselves.
